During training RGR will supply river boots, wetsuits, splash jackets, helmets and all associated gear to be suited for the training course. In addition we recommend a good gore-tex or comparable parka to wear with a synthetic fleece under layer.

After training guides will need to purchase the “tools of the trade” PFD, helmet, footwear, throw bag, whistle, river knife, and other everyday items. We offer wholesale rates on river gear so you will not be expected to arrive with the equipment you need to be a guide.

VERSATILE MANEUVERING

A kayaker can exit the river at nearly any given point and hike his or her kayak to a new location. This is important as swimmers could end up on opposite side of the river from their raft. A kayaker can assist swimmers with a bow or stern rescue maneuver or they can instruct you as to where to swim. This in itself is more often than not substantial enough help and is what most people need to alert them to swim to shore or to another raft.
