How We Got Started
After professionally guiding for over a decade, I (Jimmy- owner/operator) realized that I could offer a better experience by creating my own river outfitting business. Working on the nation's most competitive river (the Arkansas River in Colorado) allowed me to learn a lot about how to (and how not to) operate high-quality river experiences.
From day one, our goal was to provide the best river experiences. For this reason, we have grown to become Colorado's #1 rafting outfitter today. A few examples of creating the best rafting experiences are our kayak and photo support program and our focus on hiring exceptional professional river guides. The guide makes all the difference on tour, and we hire the best!
Responsible about the environment
Our river tours have a minimal environmental impact which is an excellent start to any business model. We are conscientious about our daily environmental impact too and so far, we've:
Added the addition of solar to our power needs at our base location and some of our vacation rentals.
Converted most of our lighting systems to LED systems.
Reduced our water use by utilizing waterless urinals.
Investing in our community
Royal Gorge Rafting has been donating to local efforts to create more outdoor opportunities for our community. We've invested in trail building and more outdoor activities. We believe the more people value the outdoors and all things wild, the more they will respect the environment around them.
